Overview
Adiponectin is expressed in adipose tissue exclusively. It encodes a protein with similarity to collagens X and VIII and complement factor C1q. The encoded protein circulates in the plasma and is involved with metabolic and hormonal processes. Mutations in this gene are associated with adiponectin deficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified.

Reconstitution Protocol
1. Briefly centrifuge the vial to collect lyophilized powder at the bottom.
2. Reconstitute in sterile deionized water or PBS to a concentration of 0.2–1.0 mg/mL.
3. Gently pipette up and down to dissolve. Do not vortex.
4. Aliquot and store at -20°C to -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
